My background in higher education (UM/Princeton/UCLA) and Director-level Human Resources (Apple/Yahoo/Logitech), brings a unique skillset to support our students, teachers, and administrators. I recently left my corporate career in order to focus on community board work with the EGR Schools Foundation, Mary Free Bed, and Corewell. I am fully committed to further support our district by serving on the school board.
As Grand Rapids natives, my husband, Mark Secchia, and I chose EGR for our daughter because of the schools and tight-knit community. We love it here and I want to make our schools equally amazing for everyone.
With so much happening in our district, we need proactive, clear communication to foster conversations that align our community and support our students.
Our students truly thrive when we attract and retain outstanding teachers and administrators. Supporting teachers directly supports our students.
A productive learning environment requires physical and psychological safety. Guns, drugs, bullying, and exclusion have no place in our schools. Every child deserves to feel respected, included, and safe.
True academic excellence extends beyond curriculum to develop whole, healthy individuals through diverse extracurricular activities, robust counseling, and support for students of all levels and needs.
Community Focus. After moving back to EGR, I underwent a year-long battle with breast cancer and the overwhelming support from teachers, staff, old friends and new inspired me to leave my corporate career and focus full-time on giving back to our local schools and hospitals.
Passion for public education. I believe strong public schools are key to shaping our next generation of happy, healthy citizens. As the proud product of public education, I went on to top universities, prestigious fellowships, and a global career; I believe every student deserves the same unbounded opportunities.
Board Work. I serve on the EGR Schools Foundation board, the Mary Free Bed Board of Trustees, and the Corewell Patient and Family Advisory Council. I understand the role of board members and how to make an impact.
Teaching and education. At U-M, I taught a course for first-generation college students and went on to teach in China with Princeton-in-Asia. At UCLA, I taught technology and pedagogy for staff and faculty, managed 20+ teaching fellows, and taught undergraduate courses. I am familiar with the pressures placed on teachers and what it takes to prepare high school students for their next step.
Executive Leadership. I have Director-level HR experience with Apple, Yahoo, and Logitech, overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets, writing policy, navigating legal compliance, and leading global talent strategies. I’ve led company-wide change and know the importance of concise, timely communication.
